Irakli Kobakhidze: Everything will be done to arrange more direct flights to Georgia from different countries

We have a small but very diverse and beautiful country, therefore everything should be done to develop new tourist destinations. Also, everything will be done to schedule even more direct flights from different countries to Georgia, - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said while presenting the 2023 summary report on tourism and aviation of Georgia.

As the Prime Minister noted, in 2024 Georgia will host an outstanding event for the global tourism sector such as World Tourism Day in Bari.

According to him, this is also a very important achievement for Georgia, for which he thanks the team.

"The country will host the leading leaders of the tourism and aviation sectors and will once again be at the epicenter of the international community and the media. In addition, Georgia will host an important international forum of three-dimensional tourism, namely M&I 2024, in which representatives of leading organizations from Europe will participate in the field of business tourism. This event will significantly contribute to the improvement of the country's international ranking in terms of business tourism. In addition, complex activities directed at new target markets such as China, the USA, India and others are planned for this year together with the EU and Persian Gulf countries. These activities will increase the popularity of Georgia and will seriously contribute to the further development of the tourism industry in the country. The Government of Georgia continues to take effective steps to improve the quality of tourism services and infrastructure in the country. We have a small but very diverse and beautiful country, therefore everything should be done to develop new tourist destinations in our country. Also, everything will be done to arrange more direct flights to Georgia from different countries. All this will be done consistently, in accordance with a well-thought-out policy, as it has been done so far," said Kobakhidze.

He thanked the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and personally the minister, Levan Davitashvili, the deputy, Mariam Kvrivishvili, who, according to him, oversees the tourism and aviation sector, as well as every employee of the ministry, who, according to Kobakhidze, is involved in the development of this sector.

"These people have done and are still doing their best for the development of tourism and aviation in Georgia, I am sure that their activities will bring serious success to our country in the future," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
