Prime Minister instructs ministers of law enforcement agencies to develop a unified, updated plan to fight against drug crime

The Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, instructed the ministers of law enforcement agencies to develop a unified, updated plan to fight against drug crime.

As he said at the government meeting, in parallel with the fight against drug crime, it is necessary to take care of drug addicts in order to help them stop drug use.

"I would like to thank the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, for the fact that several important operations were carried out, dealers were identified, networks were identified, however, more is needed, due to the fact that there are still facts of drug sales and consumption, there are also certain systemic events related to this. There is this established term "liberal drug policy", which is an extension of the ideology that we call pseudo-liberal ideology. That is, this is one of the constituent parts of this ideological line, which we think we should oppose. This is not an ideology that can be acceptable to our society and that can be accepted by our society. Drugs destroy not only health, but also values. This is one of the main tasks of pseudo-liberal ideology to destroy values among young people, which we must confront. For a period of time, these people achieved some success in this direction, in the direction of propagating this liberal drug policy ideology, but we should not tolerate this under any circumstances. I believe that any loyal attitude towards this issue is unacceptable. Of course, I am not talking about drug addicts, we need to take care of drug addicts in order to help them stop using drugs. This should be one of the main directions of our drug policy. As for sales, here we need maximum strictness, this should be our policy.

Attention should also be paid to psychotropic pharmacies. This should be underlined. I would like to ask all the relevant ministries, especially the law enforcement agencies, to develop a single updated plan, in order to make our fight against drug crime even more effective," said Kobakhidze.
