Ilia Darchiashvili: We told the ambassadors that we are concerned about what we have seen - we believe that criminals should not participate in similar meetings

According to Foreign Affairs Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, during the meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union and Germany, he expressed the position of the Georgian authorities that the visit of the former Minister of Justice of Georgia, Zurab Adeishvili, is unacceptable to them.

As Darchiashvili noted at the briefing after the government meeting, their position is that criminals should not participate in similar events.

"Today I had a meeting with the EU ambassador and also with the German ambassador to Georgia. In the format of these meetings, we expressed concern about the fact that we witnessed and saw that person participating in specific meetings. We believe that under the laws of Georgia, people who are suspected and accused of serious crimes should not participate in similar public activities in our partner and friendly countries. Therefore, I had the opportunity to talk to the ambassadors about this matter. In general, we remember other people too, who move freely within the European Union, against whom here are very serious charges. It is unacceptable for us that people accused of very serious crimes participated in public events of this type, attended meetings organized by our closest friends and partners", said Darchiashvili.

According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, this is an issue that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to discuss with its partners in the future.

The Minister did not specify what the position of the ambassadors was on this issue.

"It would not be right to talk about the details of our conversation. We told the ambassadors that we are concerned about what we have seen. We believe that criminals should not participate in similar meetings", said Darchiashvili.
