The Ombudsman: It is important that all recommendations given to the government and the parliament are implemented, so that this non-compliance does not create an obstacle in the process of opening negotiations

It is important that all the recommendations given to the Government and Parliament of Georgia are fulfilled, so that this non-fulfilment does not create an obstacle in the process of opening the negotiations, - Public Defender Levan Ioseliani said while talking to journalists.

"It is important that all the recommendations given to the Government and Parliament of Georgia are implemented, so that this non-compliance does not create an obstacle in the process of opening negotiations. As for the "vetting" system, all decisions must be within the legal framework that exists in Georgia, must be consistent with the Constitution of Georgia, therefore, in my opinion, the examples cited about "vetting" conducted in other countries need more argumentation. It is necessary to study the results achieved there, to what extent they correspond to our constitution, to what extent it is possible to conduct such type of "vetting" in Georgia. If the political parties agree to conduct this "vetting", including the opposition and the ruling party, this decision should be in accordance with the Constitution of Georgia," Ioseliani said.
