Georgian National Platform of Eastern Partnership: We oppose anti-European Russian moves - we demand to stop the sabotage of Georgia's move to the West

About 200 organizations of the Georgian National Platform of Eastern Partnership are insulted by the ruling party's violation of the promise made to the public that it would not return the so-called agents law, - reads the address of the Georgian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership.

As stated in the statement, they oppose anti-European Russian moves.

The Georgian National Platform of Eastern Partnership appeals to the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia - Shalva Papuashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia - Irakli Kobakhidze, the Honorary Chairman of Georgian Dream - Bidzina Ivanishvili.

"About 200 organizations of the Georgian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership are insulted by the ruling party's violation of the promise made to the public that it would not return the so-called agents law. The re-initiation of the draft law by the ruling team is incompatible with state interests, culture and Georgian traditions.

Breaking a promise, taking back one's word is a characteristic of Russian policy, which Russia has repeatedly used against the civilized world, including Georgia. This causes reputational damage to Georgia and each of its citizens. The re-initiation of the draft law is contrary to the European integration of Georgia and its adoption will ultimately undermine the historical goal of the population of Georgia - to become a member of the European Union.

We, as member organizations of the national platform, have been trying to move on the road to Europe through a dialogue with the Parliament of Georgia. It is for this purpose that we signed a memorandum of cooperation, which was positively evaluated by the European Union as an example of cooperation between the civil sector and the legislative body.

But today, Georgian Dream initiated the bill directed against the state interests of the country, cutting our way to both cooperation and European integration. The Georgian National Platform suspends the memorandum.

We demand that the sabotage of Georgia's western move be stopped. The ruling team should withdraw the initiated bill again. The member organizations of the Georgian National Platform firmly stand on the guard of European integration. We will unwaveringly defend democracy, freedom, justice, equality, national interests of Georgia, and we will not allow anyone to deprive us of the European future won by the struggle of many generations", reads the statement.
