Sergi Kapanadze on Gharibashvili's statement: This is an open rejection of the European course

"Georgian Dream" and Ivanishvili themselves are not ready for the European Union, nor do they want to, therefore we should not allow them to change the country's path, - Sergi Kapanadze, the founder of the analytical center, GRASS, notes this. Kapanadze responds to the statement of "Georgian Dream" chairman Irakli Gharibashvili, according to which "today we are not ready to become a member of the European Union", and "the European Union is not ready for expansion either."

According to Kapanadze, this statement is an open rejection of the European course.

Gharibashvili: "The status of the candidate was at its peak." "The next step is to join the European Union." "We are not ready to join."

This is an open rejection of the European course.

Actually:

The next step is to start negotiations with the European Union, and this will not happen if the Russian law is passed and the 9 points are not fulfilled;

The candidate status was only the beginning and it was "given" to us because of the geopolitical circumstances and the pro-European nature of the Georgian people, not the actions of the "Georgian Dream";

"Georgian Dream" and Ivanishvili themselves are not ready for the European Union, nor do they want to. Therefore, we should not allow them to change the country's path. This is the most important thing now, not acceptance/non-acceptance of the law.

This year we will have a chance to do so. Then not anymore. Everything is clear like today. I hope the absolute majority of this country understands this", Kapanadze notes.

Robin Wagener - With the law on "transparency of foreign influence", there will be no EU membership - No chance for that
Estonian Ambassador to Georgia - If we want EU membership, we should all play by the rules - The Georgian Government on the one hand says that they are moving closer to the EU, but their actions do not prove that
