In my opinion, joining any type of document in general, or taking another type of step, which would demonstrate that it is possible on the opposition side to agree on some issues and do things together, I definitely think is important, although this document goes further than that, - about that the leader of "Girchi - more for freedom", Zurab Japaridze, told the journalists after signing the "Georgian Charter" in the Orbelian Palace.
According to him, the joint implementation of the reforms written in the "Georgian Charter" is a fundamental and important issue for this country.
"Reforms, which are written there, derive from 9 points, which were defined for Georgia by the European Commission. Accordingly, after the implementation of these reforms, negotiations with the European Union will be opened for Georgia, that is, after receiving the status, we will take one step further and catch up with Moldova and Ukraine, and then we can finish the negotiations in about 5 years - 2030 Georgia will become a full member of the European Union. In my opinion, joint implementation of the reforms described in this document is a fundamental and important issue for this country.
[Regarding the position of the Gakharia party, which does not sign the charter], what I have heard from the representatives of Gakharia, they have no problem with the content, they also believe that these reforms should be carried out, which is good in any case. At least we agree on what needs to be done in justice, in the fight against corruption, in terms of ending de-oligarchization. As I understand, the party "For Georgia" is opposed to the record that the parliament will be temporary and after the reforms, extraordinary elections will be held and a new parliament will be elected.
These elections will not be free or fair, we all see that. When beatings, blackmail, terror, etc. have already started. It is clear what type of elections we are going to, it is clear that the results of these elections cannot reflect the political will that exists among the population of Georgia, so I think that after a certain period, I don't think it will happen in one year, even after 2 years, when these reforms will be implemented, early "I also think that holding normal elections is correct," Japaridze said.
In addition, Japaridze also responded to the statement of the chairman of the Parliament of Georgia that "radical parties will sign the charter, which was rightly called the charter of war" and noted that this is typical Russian propaganda.
"People who are outspoken traitors accuse others of being stateless. This is a common Russian story, when a person is accused of what he is an enemy and against all his life. It's the usual Russian, Soviet-type propaganda," Japaridze said.
As is known, the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili presented the action plan - "Georgian Charter" and offers political parties to reconcile around it. From today, the parties join the charter by signing, among them Zurab Japaridze joined the document.
