It is very sad when the person called the German ambassador does not stop speculations - the German ambassador, who holds this honorary title, is at the level of Grigol Gegelia, - said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to him, the German ambassador spread Chancellor Olaf Scholz's statement in such a way that it was perceived as if he spoke about Georgia in a negative context. Prime Minister Kobakhidze called the German ambassador's action a speculation.
"You all remember that the German ambassador was involved in the election activity of Lelo, they went together to Bolnisi, where they jointly participated in a specific election event. The German ambassador who holds this honorary title went down to the level of Grigol Gegelia. This is very sad. He is speculating. Then you saw that specific TV channels used this German ambassador's "tweet" or whatever it was to spread disinformation, they presented it as if the German chancellor was talking about the current situation in Georgia, whereas he was talking, if I'm not mistaken, about the murder that was committed in Germany 5 years ago. It is very sad when the German ambassador deliberately gives a source for spreading disinformation to specific media outlets and then the media outlets grab it. This is a sad event, but it is not our problem, it is the problem of the German state, when its ambassador, the official representative, is distinguished by such actions. All this, of course, should become the subject of the German state's attention," said Kobakhidze.
In addition, he emphasized the unwavering friendship and partnership with the German state.
"Germany is our friend and partner country, and no ambassador will be able to bring any ugliness to this traditional friendship and partnership, which the current ambassador is trying to do. In the end, he will not be able to do this. We are especially grateful to the German state, when Georgia regained its state independence, German support played a special role in the construction of our statehood, and we can only thank the German state for that. You can see that very often they attack the government of Georgia, but they don't present it as an attack on Georgia. Of course, when the ambassador behaves incorrectly, criticizing him is our obligation, including towards the German state, since similar actions, first of all, cause problems for the German state together with the Georgian state. Therefore, hinting that the ambassador is not behaving properly is fundamentally important for Germany, Georgia and our mutual friendship and partnership," Kobakhidze said.
For information, German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer shared the statement of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Platform X, where Scholz states: "Politically motivated hostility and attacks are on the rise these days. We have no tolerance for hatred and violence. The majority of people are decent. Their voice must be unmistakably heard".
