Russia welcomes the initiative to restore diplomatic relations with Georgia, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, said at the briefing.
According to her, normalization of relations corresponds to the interests of both nations and Russia is ready to follow this path.
"We still believe that this [normalization of relations] is in the interests of our two nations... We support any initiatives that help Russian-Georgian normalization. In this context, we welcome this initiative. We are ready to follow this path ", Zakharova said.
