Georgia remains NATO's closest partner and a valuable pillar both in the region and from the Euro-Atlantic point of view. Both NATO and Georgians know this very well, and this process will continue in the future as well, - said Georgian Ambassador to NATO Viktor Dolidze.
According to the ambassador, at the meeting with Javier Colomina, they discussed the future steps and the political context in terms of increasing the defense capability.
"In general, the use of such large-scale meetings is of great importance, naturally. We never miss such opportunities. You know that Georgia is always at a high level on the agenda of the summits, and of course we did not miss this opportunity. The minister had the opportunity to meet his colleagues, NATO ministers, as well as high-level representatives of NATO's international service. Yesterday we had a meeting with the special representative of NATO in our region, Javier Colomina, where we talked about all topics, including increasing our defense capabilities, using these capabilities, developing the so-called SNGP, which is a program tailored to Georgia, and we talked about future steps in terms of increasing defense capabilities. Of course, we discussed various topics in terms of the political context and our future membership. Georgia is and remains a fundamental partner of NATO, the closest partner and a valuable pillar both in the region and from the Euro-Atlantic point of view. Both NATO and Georgians know this very well, and this process will continue in the future," said Viktor Dolidze.
According to the Ambassador of Georgia to NATO, among the main issues of this year's anniversary summit in Washington are: threat from Russia, increase of NATO's defense capability, maximum assistance to Ukraine and improvement of relations in terms of global partnership.
"Georgia and the Minister are given the opportunity to discuss with partners and colleagues topics such as Georgia's involvement in the framework of common European and Euro-Atlantic security, and our role is very large and the contribution is very large, including the sacrifices the country has made. Of course, everyone appreciates this unequivocally, but we are going to support NATO and allies in this direction in the future as well and at the same time, to strengthen our own defense capabilities, sovereignty and territorial integrity, regarding which I think there are no two opinions among the allies, as well as in Georgia", said Viktor Dolidze.
According to the Ambassador of Georgia to NATO, today, the US Secretary of State will hold a large-scale dinner, where practically all regional partners will be invited, and Ilia Darchiashvili will have the opportunity to talk about global threats with his counterparts.
