Georgia is a member of the NATO family, our participation was very important and Georgia will continue to actively work with its partners in order for it to have concrete tangible results, - the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, said in a conversation with journalists.
The Minister summarized the NATO summit and noted that within the summit, where he participated in all high-level events, he had the opportunity to talk with his colleagues in bilateral formats about various issues, bilateral relations and, in general, challenges of global importance.
"The anniversary summit of NATO in Washington has ended, which, I think, was very effective in that once again the very strong unity of the member and partner countries was observed. Discussions were held on the challenges that the world is facing today in terms of security and therefore there were very in-depth discussions on how to work together and demonstrate that both member and partner countries are trying to overcome these challenges together. There were very interesting discussions.
Georgia is a member of this family, Georgia's participation was very important, and we think that Georgia will continue to work very actively with its partners in order to have concrete tangible results and progress in the direction of NATO integration, and I think it was a very right decision to invite partners to Washington, including Georgia. Being together with NATO member countries.
Also, I had the opportunity to participate in various events held at the invitation of the State Secretary, Blinken, where, of course, I also had the opportunity to talk with colleagues in bilateral formats about various issues, bilateral relations and, in general, challenges of global importance," said Ilia Darchiashvili.
As the Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out, the anniversary summit stands out from other summits, it is always more loaded with global political messages, and in the NATO communique, the Georgian component is included from the point of view of security.
"The anniversary summit stands out from other summits. It is always more loaded with global political messages, and therefore not everything could fit into this document. The Georgian component is included from the security point of view. We are grateful to the alliance and all member countries of the alliance for the fact that the occupation of Georgia by the Russian Federation is always on the agenda of the alliance, this was also expressed in this document. The document clearly calls for the de-occupation of Georgia, and I am sure that the very strong and consolidated support of the Alliance will have a positive effect in this direction," said Ilia Darchiashvili.
According to the Minister, Georgia is an occupied country, it has many challenges and the Government is trying to actively coordinate and mobilize international partners.
"We are working tirelessly to ensure that, despite the occasional challenges, and this is normal, every country periodically has challenges of different levels and scales, Georgia is no exception, we are an occupied country, we have a lot of challenges, and we are trying to actively Coordination and mobilization of our international partners and we have very strong communication with partners in this direction, partners support us, understand our challenges and do everything to take concrete steps in this direction with us", said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
