Ilia Darchiashvili: Today, as a presiding country, Hungary will have more opportunities to support our European integration

Two years ago, when Georgia was unfairly denied the status of a candidate without any explanation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary came to Georgia in solidarity and expressed his support, - Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili said in a conversation with journalists.

According to him, as the chairing country, Hungary will have more opportunities to support Georgia's European integration.

"It is not new news that Hungary is a very active supporter of our European integration, which is directly in line with our foreign political priorities in the direction of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, therefore we are glad that we have very close, friendly relations with the Hungarian Government, which helps Georgia on its way to European integration. We remember two years ago the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, who came to Georgia in solidarity and expressed his support, when Georgia was unfairly denied the status of a candidate without any reasons or explanations. Therefore, today as a presiding country, of course, Hungary will have more opportunities to support our European integration, the activities of our country, which will bring Georgia even closer, and I think and I think this should be a happy event for everyone, because the country, which is the chairing country, actively supports our European integration. This was the purpose of my visit, to visit the chairing country, which has now started to implement a specific agenda, to exchange opinions. Traditionally, we hope that Hungary will continue its strong support," said Ilia Darchiashvili.

As the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted, the Prime Minister successfully participated in the format of the European Community Summit. He had interactions with various leaders, he was a participant in one of the round tables, and this is how the government sees political dialogue and relations with Europe.

"I don't know what the suspension of political dialogue means. Georgia is actively working in many directions. We will continue our efforts to achieve the ultimate goal. The political dialogue will continue. The Prime Minister participated quite successfully in the format of the European Community Summit. He had interactions with various leaders, he was a participant in one of the round tables, and this is how we see the political dialogue, our relations. Therefore, if someone wants and if someone is happy about any type of negativity in relation to Georgia, when the issue concerns European integration, it is their problem. We continue and work to ensure our European future," said Ilia Darchiashvili.
