After obtaining the constitutional majority, we will start the legal process, as a result of which the "National Movement" and its satellite and successor parties will be declared unconstitutional, Bidzina Ivanishvili, Honorary Chairman of "Georgian Dream", said.
According to him, the "National Movement" should be tried in the strictest way for all the heinous crimes they committed against the country and people, especially for the heinous treason committed in 2008.
"A power that commits such a crime against its own homeland and people, which is still pushing the country towards war, should not even have a theoretical possibility of returning to power. That is why, after obtaining the constitutional majority, we will start the legal process, which will result in the declaration of the "National Movement" and its satellite and successor parties as unconstitutional. These people should be tried in the most severe way for all the worst crimes they committed against the country and people, especially for the worst treason committed in 2008.
I would like to explain once again why we need a constitutional majority:
First of all, the constitutional majority will allow us to thoroughly improve the country's political system. It is vital for the proper functioning of the democratic system, that healthy political forces fought for the governance of the country and replaced each other in power at certain intervals. As long as the opposition is called the unity of criminals, a healthy democratic system will never be established in Georgia. Today, we are in Gori, a city that has been firmly standing as one of the main symbols of Georgia's strength for 1000 years! Another amazing story of the indescribable heroism of Georgians was written right here, near the village of Shindi, a story that reminds us of how dedicated a Georgian can protect his homeland! This city and Shida Kartli as a whole have witnessed the destruction of the 2008 war. Even today, after 12 years, I am still standing here and unfortunately, I have to talk about the irreparable consequences that the "National Movement" has inflicted on its own country. 16 years have passed since those unfortunate events, however, our country has not yet healed the wound inflicted then. You experienced the most acutely on yourself how far the betrayal of the government can lead the country - the occupation of historical regions, tens of thousands of people displaced in their homeland and the sacrificed lives of hundreds of Georgians - this is the legacy of the "National Movement" regime," said Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Ivanishvili also spoke about the other important points that will be implemented in case of obtaining the constitutional majority.
According to him, after obtaining the constitutional majority, the wishes of the largest part of the country's population will definitely be reflected in the Constitution of Georgia and both family values and the interests of minors will be protected in the highest constitutional rank.
Also, in the case of a constitutional majority, "Georgian Dream" will adopt a constitutional law, by which Orthodoxy will be declared as the pillar of the identity of the state of Georgia.
"We have already submitted to the parliament the constitutional bill on "family values and protection of minors", which the radical opposition opposes as well as all other national initiatives. Today, the morals of the Georgian man are a special target of the opposition and its patrons. They know for sure that the society becomes obedient when it renounces its past, history and values! After obtaining the constitutional majority, we will definitely reflect the wishes of the largest part of the country's population in the Constitution of Georgia, and we will protect both family values and the interests of minors in the highest, constitutional rank;
Georgia and Orthodoxy are inseparable concepts. For centuries, our ancestors wrote history with the blood they spilled to protect their homeland and faith, they preserved for future generations the Christian values that preserved Georgia's European identity. Christian faith, together with land and language, is one of the main pillars of Georgian identity, which needs special care and protection. It is not surprising that today the Orthodox Church is the special target of our country's internal and external enemies. That is why, immediately after obtaining the constitutional majority, we will adopt a constitutional law by which Orthodoxy will be declared as the pillar of the identity of the state of Georgia," Ivanishvili said.
