We respect the position of the President of Georgia. To be honest, I was in favor of this unity, not because I love Gakharia or I fell in love, it's just that the country needed us to be united, - this is how one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia", Aleko Elisashvili, assessed the party "Gakharia for Georgia" and "Strong Georgia" failure to negotiate a merger.
As Elisashvili told the journalists, it is a pity that Giorgi Gakharia did not want to sign the agreement.
"Unfortunately, we could not unite. Unfortunately, Mr. Gakharia did not want to sign this agreement. This is very disappointing, I'm not going to argue. I sincerely wish success to Mr. Gakharia. It would be good if he and his party would stop this endless bickering with us," said Elisashvili.
As for whether "Strong Georgia" intends to cooperate with "National Movement", Elisashvili explains that this is not the main task at this stage.
"We are not thinking at all whether we will cooperate with the "National Movement" or not. Now the most important task is to change the government in one month", said Elisashvili.
Let us remind you that an agreement could not be reached between "Gakharia Georgia" and "Strong Georgia". As explained in the "Gakharia for Georgia" party, "the other party could not reach an internal consensus". However, they note that the discussion started between their party and "Lelo" raises positive expectations regarding the cooperation in the parliament of the next convocation. On the other hand, "Strong Georgia" explains that "due to the failure of the agreement, Gakharia will have to explain himself to the fans of the process, what made him refuse the agreement."
