According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), the total turnover of non-profit organizations from auxiliary commercial activities in 2023 amounted to 254.2 million GEL. This figure marks a 2% decline compared to 2022.
The education sector contributed the largest share of turnover (38.3%), followed by arts, entertainment, and recreation (22.9%), health and social services (16.2%), other services (7.4%), information and communication (3.8%), professional, scientific and technical activities (3%), and construction (2.6%).
Significant growth trends were noted in specific sectors. For example, turnover in the water supply, sewage, and waste management sector increased by approximately 5.4 times compared to 2022. Other sectors with notable growth include administrative and support services (43.6%), professional, scientific, and technical activities (42.1%), other services (27.2%), financial and insurance services (24.3%), and information and communication (3.6%).
In 2023, the total output volume of goods and services produced by non-commercial organizations reached 2.35 billion GEL, an 11.4% increase over the previous year. The highest outputs were recorded in the sectors of other services (27.7%), arts, entertainment, and recreation (18.3%), health and social services (14.2%), and education (13.9%).
The number of employees in non-profit organizations reached 60,000 in 2023, representing an 8.8% increase from 2022. Women made up 52.9% of the workforce, while men accounted for 47.1%. The education sector employed the largest share of these workers (27%), followed by arts, entertainment, and recreation (24.3%), health and social services (13.6%), and water supply, sewage, and waste management (13.3%).
