Shalva Papuashvili: The EU ambassador's statement caused a violation of the law against "Georgian Dream"

It is clear, they have no legal basis not to air the election clip of "Georgian Dream". This is absolute arbitrariness and a violation of the law committed by three television stations, - the chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, told the media.

In particular, Papuashvili commented on the statement of three television stations, according to which, "despite the threat of possible fines, they do not intend to promote the Russian propaganda of the Georgian Dream and mock the Ukrainian people" and refuse to air the videos. Papuashvili expressed his concern and noted that the statement of the European Union ambassador to Georgia, Paweł Herczyński, was the basis of the mentioned statements of non-governmental organizations and TV stations.

Papuashvili hopes that as bold as Ambassador Herchinsky was in his assessment of the commercial, he will be bold in his assessment of election violations."Of course, breaking the law leads to consequences. There is a speed limit in traffic. If you exceed the limit, there are sanctions. In order for there to be no sanctions, one must obey the law and not exceed the speed limit. The same is true in this case. It is clear, they have no legal basis not to air the election clip of "Georgian Dream". This is absolute arbitrariness and violation of the law committed by three television stations. This shows one thing that they want to create unequal election conditions for "Georgian Dream".

At the same time, it is a pity and we saw that in the statement of both TV stations and non-governmental organizations, the basis was not the legislation of Georgia, but the statement of the ambassador of the European Union. This is proof that foreign interference in elections has harmful consequences. In particular, in this case, the EU ambassador's statement led to the violation of the law against "Georgian Dream", including the justification of it by the EU-funded NGOs. Therefore, however bold the EU ambassador was in his assessment of this commercial, hopefully he will be bold in his assessment of the election violation. in the evaluation and in the condemnation of the justification of the violation of the law by the non-governmental organizations financed by the European Union", said Papuashvili.

In addition, according to the assessment of the chairman of the parliament, the joint assessment of non-governmental organizations on this issue confirms their partisanship."This is a direct proof of their partisanship from the local monitoring organizations, because they not only depict the violation as it is, but they update and approve of this violation. I got acquainted with the joint assessment of non-governmental organizations regarding this fact. These are the NGOs that published a false report on the parliamentary elections on November 4, 2020. I mean GYLA, "transparency", "fair elections" and others. A false conclusion in which they used fake results of parallel counting as if the election results were announced late. It seems that there was an imbalance in 8% of the districts. Here, on the basis of this false conclusion, the opposition was given an excuse to develop a revolutionary scenario. Even now we can see where these NGOs are going. This is the first false report regarding this election that we have seen now, where, if I am not mistaken, about 20 non-governmental organizations directly published a false report and called not to air the advertising campaign and justified this violation. The expectation is that on October 26, at the end of the day or on October 27, there will be the same fraud," said Papuashvili.

For information, "Mtavari Arkhi", TV "Pirveli" and TV company "Formula" issued a statement, where it is mentioned that "Georgian Dream" continues to speculate on the tragedy of the Ukrainian people for its political campaign and now demands from TV stations to broadcast the immoral banners that are on the streets, on billboards. According to the statements of the television stations, despite the threat of possible fines, they do not intend to support the Russian propaganda of the "Georgian Dream" and mock the Ukrainian people and refuse to broadcast the videos.
