Shalva Papuashvili on the resolution of the Bundestag: there is nothing surprising if Michael Roth will be in charge of foreign relations in Hans Genscher's country

In the country of Hans Genscher, there is nothing surprising if Michael Roth is in charge of foreign relations, - said the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, thus responding to the support of the German Bundestag's resolution on the issue of Georgia - "Georgia for the European Future".

According to Papuashvili, there are people in German politics who undermine the 30-year friendship between Georgia and Germany.

"We saw the project that was published yesterday, today there were votes. We saw that the representatives of the opposition did not support, including the two largest German parties did not support this resolution, which is an indication of everything.

When we got to know the contents of this resolution, the most heartbreaking thing was that we see people in German politics and, among other things, in diplomacy, who are undermining 30 years of friendship. The special friendship that the Georgian people had with Germany. The German authorities are well aware of our emotional attitude towards Germany as a state. It is heartbreaking to undermine the trust of the Georgian people for some short-term goals.

On the other hand, in Hans Genscher's country, there is nothing surprising if Michael Roth will be in charge of foreign relations," Papuashvili said.

The German Bundestag supported the resolution on the issue of Georgia - "For the European future of Georgia". The ruling majority parties supported the resolution - "Social Democratic Party", "Greens" and "Liberal Democratic Party". Opposition parties - "Christian Democratic Union", ultra-right "Alternative for Germany" and the ultra-left "Union of Sarah Wagenknecht" went against it, while the "leftists" abstained.

As mentioned in the resolution, the authoritarian and anti-European course of the current government of Georgia deliberately puts Georgia's European future at risk.

The document mentions that the so-called "Transparency of Foreign Influence" law cannot and will not make further progress in the process of joining the European Union.

The role of the honorary chairman of "Georgian Dream" is emphasized here, and it is said that the goal of maintaining Bidzina Ivanishvili's power is higher than Georgia's European future and democratic stability.
