According to the Ombudsman's assessment, the building of district N52 of Saburtalo district, where disabled people vote, is not adapted for them - even the members of the district commission do not know the rules of communication with blind people

According to the assessment of the Public Defender of Georgia, the building of district N52 of Saburtalo District, located in the building of the 112th kindergarten of Tbilisi, where people with disabilities vote, is not adapted for them.

According to the information provided by the Office of the Public Defender, Levan Ioseliani was at the N52 Precinct of Saburtalo District, located in the building of the 112th Kindergarten in Tbilisi, where he talked to the representatives of the election administration and observed the process of exercising the right to vote by a blind disabled voter.

According to the Ombudsman's office, it became clear from the on-site observation that the building of the election precinct is not accessible for disabled people.

"Directly addressing the blind person, it was revealed that the members of the precinct commission do not know the rules of communication with the blind person, they could not explain the voting procedure to him, and they could not answer the questions asked by the voter.

In addition, it should be noted that the frame/form prepared for blind people does not allow for its independent use. It is also difficult to place the ballot in the frame, because it is not clear for a blind person which side of the paper to place. And finally, maybe due to a number of problems, the blind person's choice does not coincide with the desired candidate.

The Public Defender emphasizes once again that it is important to train the members of the commission in-depth for the effective participation of voters with disabilities, including the blind, in the elections", the statement reads.
