Shalva Papuashvili at the opposition rally: We have seen many such rallies, we cannot comply with the demands that will destroy democracy - do you think that 1 million 120 thousand people who voted for "Georgian Dream" will allow someone to take away their vote?

1,120,000 people voted for the "Georgian Dream" and no one can override their will, not even from outside the country, and even more so, not even inside the country - we cannot follow the demands of the citizens, thoughts that will destroy democracy in the country, said the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.

According to him, the task of the government is not to give anyone the opportunity to take away the votes of the citizens of Georgia and to overturn the democratic choice of this country.

"1,120,000 people voted for "Georgian Dream". Do you think 1,120,000 people are going to let someone take their vote away? Of course not. The task of the government is precisely this, not to give anyone the opportunity to take away the votes of the citizens of Georgia and to overturn the democratic choice of this country. This choice is clear.

Of course, no one can override the will of 1,120,000 people, not even from outside the country, and of course, even more so, not even inside the country. We have seen many such actions. We saw exactly the same political groups and NGOs in action in February-March 2022, when their supporters also demanded that we send troops to Ukraine and engage in war. They demanded that we impose sanctions [on Russia]. There were people there, people stood there, but what they demanded was the destruction and death of the country. Of course, we cannot follow such demands, thoughts of citizens, which will destroy democracy in the country," Papuashvili said.
