I would advise the prosecutor's office that it is better to start its work and avoid political settlement with the President, - said the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili at the briefing, thus responding to the investigation started by the prosecutor's office of Georgia regarding the possible falsification of the parliamentary elections and summoning the President to the questioning.
According to Salome Zurabishvili, summoning her for questioning by the prosecutor's office "strangely it coincides with the statement of the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dimitri Medvedev, that "the proxy president of Georgia refused to recognize the election results and went against the constitution by calling for a coup." In such cases, the standard practice is dismissal and imprisonment."
"I am now addressing the prosecutor's office, you are accountable to the people. Society is asking you for an immediate investigation, not my evidence. No one expects from the prosecutor's office today, in this situation, to start clearly political processes against the president, which strangely coincides with the instructions given by Medvedev, I don't know who is fulfilling and who is not.
At the moment, more than 1100 complaints have been submitted to the CEC. The request for annulment of the results directly concerns 246 precincts, which in turn concerns up to 400,000 voters. It is obvious that this can have a very serious impact on the results of the elections themselves. The most important issue is the systematic violation of vote secrecy, as a result of which the results of 2263 precincts can be invalidated. So, I advised the prosecutor's office that it is better to start its work and settle political accounts with the president. At the moment, when it is necessary, and our partners are also looking at it, to finally show whether the prosecutor's office can be independent and impartial, it raises even more question marks. The prosecutor's office started its work, and the president took care of his work.
The public is experiencing a lot of frustration, seeing the level at which these voices have been taken away, at the same time there is a psychological pressure on the public to add to this frustration tension, fears, even towards me. I'm grateful, I've received so many messages saying "don't be afraid". I am not afraid and you should not be afraid either, everything will be calm, peaceful and the real results of these elections should be announced", said Salome Zurabishvili.
