On the day of the election, when I saw footage of the violence on TV, I called the Minister of Internal Affairs, his deputy... I couldn't get in touch with them anywhere, and they still haven't called me. I can confirm that the state institutions didn't protect you that day and they don't protect us to this day, - the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili said this at the end of the public meeting with the monitoring organizations: "My Vote" coalition, GYLA and "Fair Elections".
According to Zurabishvili, this battle is now only in the first stage. As the President pointed out, society is much more united and society shows the way to politicians.
"I wasn't an observer, but I was watching everything on TV that day, and at some point, there was an episode that showed a lot of violence. In Samegrelo, if I'm not mistaken. As a duty officer, I called the Minister of Internal Affairs to find out where the police were, because the law enforcement officers were nowhere to be seen. I called him on his cell phone, I also called his deputy on the government line, which must be on all the time. I couldn't get in touch with them anywhere and they still don't call me back. I can confirm that the state institutions did not protect you that day and do not protect us to this day.
This means nothing, the fact is that these elections are not legitimate, they were not conducted legitimately, they were falsified, they were stolen. I am sure that there was a great inspiration of the Russian scenario and that is why many things could not be calculated in advance.
The psychological part was very well calculated, as our neighbor knows, Georgian psychology has been studied for many years, and many things were very well included, and even the use of the "Russian law", which hindered the training of observers, because it took the efforts of these organizations in a completely different direction, who, in spite of everything, still started this very big work, but there was a very big delay both psychologically and in their work at the moment of the introduction of the "Russian law", which we kept thinking about, why they needed it at this moment. Today it is much easier to understand.
This battle is only in its early stages now. My role as president is still to be in touch with our foreign partners and convey as much as possible the messages and the demands that are there. The time for our evidence is over, I think, but if they feel that action is still needed to buy some time, that will be up to them, but we have to be ready, and you are ready, if there is an international investigation, you have to be the one Who will answer their questions, not some official.
It is important to look inside, no matter the difficulties. We know what the political spectrum is, we know how difficult it is to unite them in different ways, but it continues. Society is much more united and society shows the way.
When I finish my "Fridays", I will be here, wherever I am needed, and I am sure that I will be with you", said the President.
