The 300-member commission has elected Mikheil Kavelashvili as the President of Georgia.

Earlier, in Parliament, the Central Election Commission summarized the votes during a public session. Afterward, the Chairman of the CEC presented the election results to the members of the electoral commission gathered in the plenary hall.

Mikheil Kavelashvili, who was recently elected president, was present in the hall.

Kavelashvili received 224 votes in his favor. His candidacy was not supported by Ada Marshania, a member of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia, who stated that she did not approve of Kavelashvili's candidacy.

The opposition did not participate in the process.

According to the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, 225 members participated in the vote, with 1 ballot being invalid.

The procedure took place in the Parliament's plenary session hall.

The vote was conducted openly. First, the members of the Georgian Parliament cast their votes, followed by representatives of other state bodies in the electoral commission, in alphabetical order.

The results were met with applause from the members of the commission.

The Chairman of the CEC handed over the final protocol to the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, and declared the election process complete.

Mikheil Kavelashvili was the sole candidate for the presidency.
