Clashes erupt after police refuse to allow vehicle with stage equipment to enter Rustaveli Avenue

A car carrying stage equipment intended for President Salome Zurabishvili's speech has been allowed to move along Rustaveli Avenue.

This was preceded by a confrontation between Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, and law enforcement officers.

Khoshtaria called on the police to allow the cars loaded with the stage to move. Khoshtaria chanted: "Let the car go!".

By now, the protesters have moved to the First Classical Gymnasium, where they will set up the stage from which the President will address the protesters at 9:00 p.m.

Earlier, the head of "Safari", human rights activist Baia Pataraia, stated that the car carrying the stage equipment was first inspected by the patrol police and then taken to a parking lot.

According to the protest participants, alternative equipment has been provided for the stage.
