The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs expelled 91 citizens of various countries from the country in November-December of this year.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, within the framework of the expulsion procedure, some citizens of foreign countries left Georgia voluntarily, while others were forcibly expelled from Georgia as a result of measures taken by the Migration Department.
“On the basis of relevant legislation, citizens of Iran, Algeria, India, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkmenistan and other countries were expelled from the country in November-December.
Among the deported persons, against whom the deportation procedure has been initiated by the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, are foreign citizens who participated in the protests in Tbilisi in November-December of this year and were subjected to various administrative penalties by the court - a total of 25 persons. Of these, 10 foreign citizens have already left the territory of Georgia.
According to data from 2024, the Migration Department expelled a total of 430 foreign citizens from the country, which is 126% higher than the indicator of the same period of the last year.
The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the body responsible for combating illegal migration within the country. Its main competence is to identify foreign citizens who are in Georgia without legal grounds and to carry out their deportation from Georgia,” reads the information.
