"We inspected the company Mila, which supplies school institutions and kindergartens. No violations were found," – stated Zurab Chekurashvili, Head of the National Food Agency.
According to him, 15 state inspections were conducted last year at the company Soflis Nobati (Village’s Harvest).
“The National Food Agency inspects dairy processing companies at least four times a year. As a result, last year the agency conducted around 1,500 inspections in the dairy sector and took 1,031 samples. As for Soflis Nobati, 15 state inspections were carried out last year, including inspections, document checks, sample collection, and HACCP audits,” said Chekurashvili.
According to the agency, this year employees inspected Soflis Nobati as part of a state program. They found that in a small batch of products, the levels of a certain substance slightly exceeded the legally allowed limit (from 0.1 to 0.32 µg/L).
“The company is cooperating with the agency. Product recall from the market began immediately. We instructed both the Tbilisi municipal office and regional branches of the agency to recheck stores across Georgia to ensure that food from this batch has been removed from shelves and is no longer being sold,” Chekurashvili noted.
He added that the specific product is no longer being sold in any settlement across Georgia.
