On May 3, the presentation of the Bolnisi Wine Guide took place at the Georgian-German Wine House in Bolnisi.
The Guide was developed with the initiative of the Wine Bolnisi Association, and the support from RMG, in 2024. Its purpose is to showcase the wine region’s history, traditions, and cultural heritage, and promote local winemakers, wineries, and their products both domestically and internationally.
The publication explores the region’s continuous winemaking and Rtveli (vintage) traditions, distinctive methods of winemaking in the old German settlement, and the characteristics of grape varieties native to Kvemo Kartli region. The Guide also highlights Bolnisi’s status as a Protected Designation of Origin, and its significance within Georgian viticulture.
Bolnisi Wine Guide includes a wine map of the city, marking 32 local wineries and cellars. Notably, it also includes a revived Soil Map of the Bolnisi municipality, which is an invaluable resource for winemakers.
In this edition, Bolnisi is presented not only through its rich cultural and historical landmarks and heritage, but also as a Town of Golden Wine and gastronomy.
The presentation event will gather local winemakers, industry professionals, sommeliers, wine enthusiasts, and representatives from the tourism sector.
The Bolnisi Wine Guide was designed by N Line Media, the publisher of Homeland of Wine, the leading wine magazine. This publication plays a key role in raising awareness of Bolnisi winemaking, PDO wine signage, and enhancing the region’s recognition in the wider wine community.
