The so-called “MEGOBARI Act” is a test of whether Donald Trump will fulfill his promise to end informal oligarchic rule. Whether the bill becomes law or not has nothing to do with Trump’s decision! Trump is under no obligation to enforce it! This statement was made to the media by “Georgian Dream” MP Levan Machavariani.

Machavariani also noted that the initiator and frontman of the “MEGOBARI Act” is Joe Wilson, “who is fully exposed as just an ordinary lobbyist.” In the same context, the “Georgian Dream” MP stated that Wilson’s posts “directly align with the narrative of the ‘United National Movement.’”

“This act is the lifeline of the opposition. They are in a tough situation and celebrate every time the act passes a certain stage. This celebration lasts a day or two, but I want to explain to the public that this is simply a political show! In the so-called ‘MEGOBARI Act’—which is in reality a hostile act—there is nothing friendly. What’s written in it—sanctions and so on—President Trump can implement today. He could have implemented it a month ago. He can implement it a month from now. Whether or not this bill becomes law has absolutely nothing to do with Trump’s decision!” said Machavariani.

According to him, if the bill does become law, it will confirm that “at that moment, the influence of informal Deep State governance in the U.S. had not been reduced.”

“As for the political show aspect—of course, this is a ‘bone’ thrown to the opposition. The opposition’s electorate mainly watches opposition media outlets. These media say that if the bill becomes law, Trump will be obligated to enforce it. Trump is under no obligation whatsoever to enforce it! — If Trump wants to take such actions, he has full legitimacy to do so even without the bill.

I just want to draw a distinction—let’s assume the bill becomes law. In that case, it serves as a kind of test of whether the influence of the ‘global war party’s’ informal oligarchic rule in the U.S. has weakened.

Trump has openly declared war against informal governance, but the pace of this struggle is not advancing in his favor. He has done many things: he started cleaning out the bureaucracy, banned funding for core instruments such as USAID and NED. This is a serious struggle, and if this bill becomes law, it will be the only confirmation that the influence of informal Deep State governance in the U.S. could not be reduced to the desired level at that moment,” Machavariani stated.
