Commotion follows police officer calling defendants "violent” at the trial of Andro Chichinadze, Onise Tskhadadze and 9 other people

There was a commotion in the Tbilisi City Court, where the trial of actor Andro Chichinadze, comedian Onise Tskhadadze, and 9 other people arrested for participating in group violence during the protests ongoing near the parliament is underway.

The defendants' dissatisfaction followed the testimony of police officer Lasha Buiglishvili, who had the status of a victim, when he was being questioned by lawyer Irma Chkadua.

The police officer stated that he "has a complaint against those participants of the rally who acted violently and threw stones." In response to the lawyer's clarifying questions, the police officer stated - "They are violent people," - which led to dissatisfaction and commotion from the defendant Andro Chichinadze and the other detainees.

"Who do you mean?" - Chichinadze asked, which was also followed by commotion from those present in the hall.

“You harmed 500 children, and you call us perpetrators?”, - accused Jano Archaia addressed the police officer.

One of the attendees left the session in protest. According to Judge Nino Galustashvili, the person in question was expelled from the courtroom for disturbing the order and disrespecting the court.

The judge also issued a warning to the defendants.

“I am warning you, if such a case happens again, you will be expelled from the courtroom,” Galustashvili said.
