We see that we can no longer explain anything to Rasa Juknevičienė. The person has an organic intolerance towards the Georgian people, she has her own personal attitude and history regarding Stalin, due to which she dislikes the entire nation, therefore, we cannot explain anything to her, - the Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili told journalists in response to a question regarding the European Parliament resolution.
According to Papuashvili, his team’s task is to speak to EU citizens and show them “the shameful path some governments or some institutions in Brussels are on.”
Papuashvili explained that they will do everything they can to explain to EU citizens that “their money is flowing into sowing propaganda, violence, hatred and contempt, so that they can then go to their institutions and demand accountability for this harm.”
“As for the anti-Georgian groups in the European Parliament, which are acting against the Georgian people, there was talk these days that they were going to hold a certain performance in the European Parliament building and were going to stand, presumably, with photos of some of the figures in the ongoing criminal case. I was really looking forward to this performance and imagining it. Their imagination is basically like this - they print photos, stand and demand. We all remember how they demanded the release of Mikheil Saakashvili with such a performance. I was waiting for this moment and thought that as soon as I saw this photo, which would be another call for the release of some figure in the criminal case, I would take this photo, take an old photo where it was written “Free Misha”, paste them together and post it on Facebook. And what my eyes saw, I didn’t even need it - I saw a performance where they directly put Saakashvili, Melia, all the people in one pot - this shows, in general, who we are dealing with. It is a shame when anti-Georgian politics is carried out within the walls of the European Parliament, it is a shame for Europe, it is a shame for Brussels, when politics against the Georgian people are given a platform in this important institution.
As for the alternative draft (resolution), this is what we want to see in the European Union. We want to see common sense, we want to see the strengthening of those forces that act on common sense, elementary basic understanding and the principles of international law, and it is good that such political representation in the European Parliament is becoming stronger and stronger. This is exactly the kind of EU we look to, not those anti-Georgian groups that are fighting Georgia and trying to use Georgia as an instrument to overcome their own fears, so it is welcome if alternative views are gaining more and more strength.
We see that we can no longer explain anything to Rasa Juknevičienė. The person has an organic intolerance towards the Georgian people, she has her own personal attitude and history regarding Stalin, due to which she dislikes the entire nation, therefore, we cannot explain anything to her.
Our task now is to look for those political groups that are gaining strength in the EU member states, including talking to citizens, showing them what a shameful path some governments or some institutions in Brussels are on, and for the EU citizens themselves to demand an answer for spending the money, including in Georgia, which is used to sow propaganda, violence, hatred and contempt in Georgian society. The EU citizens themselves should be able to do this, and we will do everything we can to explain this to the EU citizens, so that they can then come to their institutions and demand an answer for the harm that we sometimes see,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
