The Parliament adopted amendments to the Law on Common Courts in the third reading. The bill was supported by 80 deputies, and no one opposed it.
According to the bill, photo-video recording and broadcasting by the media in the court - in the court building, courtroom and court yard - will be prohibited.
Only the High Council of Justice will make a decision regarding photo-video recording during a court session.
In addition, according to the bill, any person who expresses disrespect to a judge in any form - verbally, through obscene or other actions, in any circumstances - at a court session or in a public space will be held liable.
The bill also increases the term of a judge's transfer from two to three years. It will also be permissible to extend this term for another two years. In addition, the bill also changes the rules for staffing the High Council of Justice. The Parliament will elect only 2 members to the 15-member High Council of Justice instead of 5. The number of judges in the Council is increasing - the Council will be represented by 12 judges instead of 9, and the President will again appoint one member.
According to the amendments, the so-called Independent Inspector Service and the position of Independent Inspector in the judicial system will be abolished.
In addition, according to the draft law, the grounds for disciplinary liability of a judge and the types of disciplinary misconduct are expanded - failure or improper performance by a judge of duties related to judicial activity will be considered a disciplinary misconduct.
