It seems that we are moving towards the point where Armenia will replace Georgia as the main ally of the European Union in our region, - one of the leaders of Lelo - Strong Georgia, Salome Samadashvili, said about the visit of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, to Armenia.
According to her, "the visit of the EU representatives to Armenia aims to provide Armenia with all the benefits that Georgia will lose in the near future as a result of the policies pursued by the government."
“Relations with the EU are always based on values and how much a particular state, in terms of democracy, meets the expectations of the EU. That is why, after the democratic breakthrough in Armenia, we see that Armenia’s attitude towards geopolitical choices has changed and they decided to join the EU, and we also see how much support Armenia has from the EU today. In parallel with this, when the Russian autocratic system was established in Georgia, it is clear and it seems that we are moving towards the fact that Armenia will replace Georgia as the main ally of the EU in our region. While Georgia has lost its path to joining the EU and we are not moving forward, while the suspension of the visa-free regime with Georgia is on the agenda, we see, among other things, high-level visits by EU representatives to Armenia, which aim to provide Armenia with all the benefits that Georgia seems to lose in the near future as a result of the policies pursued by the Bidzina Ivanishvili government," said Salome Samadashvili.
In addition, Salome Samadashvili also spoke about the statements made by the fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, at the rally held yesterday and noted that Zurabishvili can work to overcome differences of opinion within the opposition spectrum.
"I share Salome Zurabishvili's call for unity. However, it must be said that unity can only be achieved when there is a path, a unified action plan. Today, the opposition spectrum needs even more time to figure out what path of struggle it intends to take and how it will fight the Russian regime. In this regard, there are still differences of opinion. If Salome Zurabishvili uses her own resources to overcome these differences of opinion and achieve unity, we can only welcome it. That is why, since its establishment, Lelo has been actively participating and cooperating in the format coordinated by her. We understand that we will be able to release political prisoners and defeat the Russian regime with great public unity, and Lelo has always been a supporter of unity," said Salome Samadashvili.
