"The fact that Mr. Tornike’s life has been preserved today is the merit of Mr. Alexi—seconds were critical in this situation, he did not hesitate, and through timely and direct intervention, his life was saved," said Lali Aptsiauri, Alexi Akhvelediani’s lawyer, during a conversation with journalists.

According to her, at the court hearing where Alexi Akhvelediani’s preventive measure will be discussed, she will request the use of bail.

"Regarding the presentation of charges, it will likely happen today, presumably in the second half of the day. The exact time is not yet known to me at this stage. There is no new information so far. I am not familiar with the case materials.

For reference, yesterday morning, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Tornike Rizhvadze, the former chairman of the Adjara government, was admitted to "Geohospitals" in Sagarejo with a gunshot wound to the chest area. According to the agency, Rizhvadze received emergency medical assistance. Later, Rizhvadze was transferred from Sagarejo to the First University Clinic in Tbilisi. In connection with Tornike Rizhvadze’s case, Alexi Akhvelediani has been detained as a suspect for negligent storage of a firearm.
