Teona Akubardia on Elene Khoshtaria’s detention: Either they will build a ‘Kvarkvare prison’ and lock us all up, or we will do everything to send them to the deserved place where they belong

"Either they will build a ‘Kvarkvare prison’ and lock us all up, or we will do everything to send them to the deserved place where they belong," stated opposition politician Teona Akubardia regarding the detention of Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the "Coalition for Change."

According to her statement, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze knows very well that Elene Khoshtaria wrote the truth on the banner.

"The regime is afraid of losing the fragile power it holds. Little cowards come out and not only justify insulting women but have also lost any semblance of manhood. When they claim one day that they are patriots and defend dignity, it’s just another face of their disgrace. Kakha Kaladze knows very well that the marker inscription, the truth, was the reason why Elene has now been detained, as was Levan Khabeishvili, one of the leaders of the ‘National Movement,’ in the days prior. Therefore, either they will build a ‘Qvarqvare prison’ and lock us all up, or we will do everything to send them to the deserved place where they belong. This must be done through peaceful protest, through the resistance that has been ongoing for over 300 days. This is yet another sign that they lack the solidity of power," Akubardia stated.

Furthermore, in her assessment, the detention of former Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze is linked to the "clan-based conflict" within the "Georgian Dream" team.

"The detention of Juansher Burchuladze, a father of eight fighting against liberalism, is not about corruption at all; it’s a clan-based fight, a fear between those ousted and the current team, led by Kobakhidze. Kobakhidze has outmaneuvered Irakli Garibashvili in the party, which has culminated in the complete consolidation of his power, and now he fears that this power might be shaken. Many have seen how Ivanishvili discards his loyal soldiers when he no longer needs them. Ivanishvili himself stands behind a corrupt regime. This is how he seeks to maintain power through authoritarian methods. Support to all political prisoners of conscience. The fight continues to the end," Akubardia stated on air.

One of the leaders of the "Coalition for Change," Elene Khoshtaria, has been detained. Law enforcement officers took Khoshtaria from her home. The reason for the detention is presumably the damage to the banner of "Georgian Dream’s" mayoral candidate, Kakha Kaladze, for which the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a case. The investigation was initiated under Article 187 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to damaging or destroying property.

For reference, on September 14, Elene Khoshtaria wrote "Russian Dream" on Kakha Kaladze’s election banner near his campaign headquarters. She shared the corresponding video on social media herself and stated that in this way, she expresses solidarity with Megi Diasamidze, who was detained a few days ago for damaging Kakha Kaladze’s election banner.
