Giorgi Gvarakidze: Within the framework of the protests, violent groups acted in concert and systematically maintained communication with each other through radio transceivers, which were seized from the party offices, along with other items

The protests, in a short time, went beyond the limits established by law - violent groups acted in concert and systematically maintained communication with each other through radio transceivers, which, along with other items, were seized as a result of searches conducted in the offices of opposition parties, - Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze stated at a briefing, where it became known that the Prosecutor's Office initiated criminal prosecution against opposition politicians, Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nika Melia, Zurab Japaridze, Elene Khoshtaria, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze.

As Gvarakidze noted, the collection and delivery of financial funds and material resources to violent groups was carried out in a coordinated manner, in which, along with politicians, non-governmental organizations and the so-called “funds” created specifically for this purpose.

“The protests that began near the parliament building went beyond the limits established by law in a short time. There were several deliberate and organized confrontations with the police force, the throwing of so-called “Molotov cocktails”, easily flammable and incendiary substances at law enforcement officers. The actions of the perpetrators were coordinated with the aforementioned politicians. At the same time, the violent groups acted in concert and systematically maintained communication with each other through radio transceivers, which, along with other items, were seized as a result of searches conducted in the offices of opposition parties, including the offices of the United National Movement, Droa and Girchi-More Freedom.

On November 28, 2024, at the instigation of the leaders, a violent confrontation with police officers began near the Parliament building and continued for 6 days. As a result, violent groups injured 158 law enforcement officers, several of whom were seriously injured, set fire to rooms in the Parliament building, significantly damaging the building, and set fire to special police equipment, and destroyed state and private property on Rustaveli Avenue.

In parallel with the above, the collection and delivery of financial and material resources to violent groups was carried out in a coordinated manner. For groups, in which, along with politicians, non-governmental organizations and so-called "funds" created specifically for this purpose were actively involved, which in turn received funding from international donors," the Prosecutor General noted.
