Giorgi Sharashidze: Exclusive information: Ivanishvili sent another envoy to the U.S. - Mamuka Mdinaradze

Giorgi Sharashidze, MP from the party “Gakharia for Georgia,” stated in an interview on PalitraNews’ “Day’s Newsroom” program:

“I have exclusive information: another envoy has been sent by Ivanishvili to the U.S., none other than the head of the State Security Service, Mamuka Mdinaradze. What is Mdinaradze supposed to do there? How can you imagine the head of the SSS being in the U.S. on an unofficial visit, quietly? The U.S. is not a country that handles its relations like this. Does he think it’s Russia or Moscow?”

Sharashidze argued that “Georgian Dream” simply lacks the resources to officially reset or improve relations with the United States. Regarding the meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia and U.S. State Department Deputy Brendan Hanrahan, he said:

“This official announcement means nothing. What’s really happening is another envoy being sent by Ivanishvili to the U.S., again Mamuka Mdinaradze. This is clearly another attempt. You may recall that a few years ago, Ivanishvili sent Liluashvili in a similar hidden capacity. Media was not aware. Back then, Giorgi Gakharia was in the U.S. and his visit coincided with Liluashvili’s informal visit. Today, exactly the same is happening. ‘Georgian Dream’ has exhausted all resources and sees that no relationship reset with America is possible at an official level. That’s why the SSS chief is being sent again. Similar practice existed before and did not yield positive results. How can Mdinaradze conduct a quiet, unofficial visit to the U.S.? The U.S. is not Russia. This alone shows the state is completely outside constitutional bounds. Can the SSS head hold secret meetings in such an important country as the U.S.? Citizens should draw conclusions from this.”

On debates and domestic political issues, Sharashidze added that his party is ready to participate in upcoming Rustavi 2 debates on pricing issues, where Irakli Kobakhidze from Georgian Dream will appear:

“We did not receive a formal invitation, but we saw that Kobakhidze is preparing for the debate. We are ready - let them be well-prepared to debate us. Although this format is not ideal for us, for this important topic, we will participate.”

Sharashidze also criticized current legislative initiatives of the 11th Parliament, saying:

“Parliament has become comical. For example, the Speaker said he is only responsible for the building where sessions are held, not for the rest of Georgia. Or that the faction leader Kirtskhali worries about Sweden’s economic problems. Some don’t know the synonym for cherries or other fruits. Georgian Dream is in a very difficult position.

On education reform, which will determine our next generation’s future, how can it be fast-tracked? The entire package is passed hurriedly. This is absurd. No rational person can understand why such an important law can be rushed. Regarding grants, Georgian Dream has gone outside constitutional boundaries. Now, outside the state, there is a kind of ‘Georgian Dream union’ that acts arbitrarily. Their sole purpose is to do what they are told. How can this be explained rationally? They are already deep into autocracy - we are practically there, one step away from dictatorship.”

Regarding the proposal by Archil Gorduladze, chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee, to criminally sanction those who publicly refuse to recognize constitutional bodies, Sharashidze stated:

“Georgian Dream only cares about the sovereignty of their own party. When they talk about sovereignty, it’s not the country’s sovereignty that matters - it’s their party’s sovereignty, so they can continue enriching themselves at the expense of citizens. They do not understand what a state is. Some may understand it, but their personal financial interests are so great that they close their eyes. This is a very sad state.

The main goal of these legislative initiatives is control - control over public opinion and dissenting voices, and once again, control".
