Shalva Papuashvili - The British ambassador demands that we not import Russian gas or gasoline, his response is: "It has become more expensive here too, and you should also pay more” – and who asks the EU ambassador, who is talking to us in this tone, with a sneer!

Yesterday, I think several ambassadors received the elixir of truth, they spoke as much truth as they had never spoken in 4 years. In fact, they exposed everything we were talking about, - said the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, responding to the statements of the British Ambassador and the joint statement issued by the French Ambassador to Georgia, the German Ambassador and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom.

According to him, it became clear that the reason why the European Union and the West have been blaming us for these 4 years was that we did not comply with their main demand and did not escalate with Russia.

"Yesterday, I think several ambassadors had taken the elixir of truth. They told as much truth as they had never told in 4 years. In fact, they exposed everything we were talking about. It became clear that for these 4 years, the reason why the EU and the West were scolding us was that we did not comply with their main demand and did not escalate with Russia. What was the statement if not a demand to open a second front, when you tell Georgia that it should impose sanctions on Russia, not allow tourists, not trade with Russia, not allow Georgian peasants to export wine, we should block flights, we should remove planes from the sky, as the EU ambassador told us. It turns out that businesses should not import gasoline from Russia, they should buy expensive British gasoline, or from other countries, as the British ambassador told us. All this means dragging Georgia into an escalation with Russia, which means war, a war where not a single British, German, French, or any soldier will come here to fight alongside us. They will leave us alone, as we always had to. They will look at us from the outside.

As for the British ambassador's statement, the British ambassador has recently been going from office to office personally, including with members of parliament, and directly demanding that Russian gas or gasoline not be imported into Georgia. When they tell him that it is a disaster to prohibit businesses from importing gasoline or energy from Russia, [he says], therefore the state should impose sanctions on Russia - the British ambassador demands the imposition of sanctions, that is, war.

Second: When they tell the British ambassador that if we prohibit businesses, they will import cheap gasoline from Russia, they will have to buy expensive gasoline, fuel and life will become more expensive for the population, do you know what the British ambassador's answer is?! Not a big deal, it has become more expensive here too and you should also pay more. Here, such a person speaks to us in Georgian about love, when we see this hypocrisy from the British ambassador, this is the main thing. It is an attempt to drag Georgia into an escalation with Russia, into an arc of fire that they want to arrange for Russia. If they have any idea, they know where the front line is, if you want I can give a map, where exactly the front line runs, the British, German [ambassadors]... should send soldiers now, let them go into the trenches and see if they have any idea," Papuashvili noted.

According to him, the EU ambassador "stands and tells us not to let Russian tourists in, to be hungry, not to sell wine."

"The EU ambassador's statement is absolutely shameful. The EU has paid more money to Russia than Ukraine in the last 4 years, and now the EU ambassador comes out and dares to say, with a sneer, that Georgians, who have our needs and challenges, should not let Russian tourists in, should be hungry, should not sell wine, who asks the EU ambassador to speak to us in this tone! Brussels today is devoid of values, it is a gathering of bureaucrats, the only thing they can do is harm others. The only thing they [do] is destroy the fate of others and their own people, that is why the European people raised their voices against Brussels and their puppets," Papuashvili noted.
