We found out why the British ambassador was studying Georgian - to watch POSTV and Imedi and to fabricate cases against free media, - the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, told journalists, responding to the summoning of the British ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the issue of imposing sanctions on Imedi and POSTV.
According to him, "it has been proven that the British ambassador is the one who fabricated a case for attacking free media, which is very serious."
"We found out why the British ambassador was studying Georgian - to watch POSTV and Imedi and to fabricate cases against free media. It has been proven that the [British] ambassador is the one who fabricated a case for attacking free media, which is very serious. One of his videos was circulating on social media - I watched it 5 times. It is ironic that this person swore to us a few months ago that they are supporters of free media. Perhaps after recording this video, he went to his office and started fabricating excuses for attacking free media,” Papuashvili said.
For information, the Georgian Foreign Ministry summoned the British Ambassador, Gareth Ward, yesterday.
