Bidzina Ivanishvili attends Georgian Dream Political Council meeting

The meeting of the Georgian Dream Political Council was attended by the party’s Honorary Chairman, Bidzina Ivanishvili.

The meeting was held at the party’s central office. After the meeting, the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Georgian Dream, Irakli Kobakhidze, presented the party’s statement to the public on the issue of the sanctioning of two Georgian TV companies, Imedi and POSTV.

According to the Georgian Dream Political Council, the decision taken by the UK is an unprecedented example of an open attack on free media.

"The motive was to give the discredited, dying opposition a small chance to survive...

As soon as the radical opposition received one-time assistance from foreign patrons through the sanctions of Imedi and POSTV, they began to assert the absurd with a unified "message box", as if the government and free Georgian media were on the verge of collapse. This is another lustration and, at the same time, a tragedy for these people, who, in their opinion, should decide the fate of Georgia not by the Georgian people, but by an external force," the ruling party stated.
