Imedi and POSTV do not need to be saved, no one in this country needs to be saved, everything is very good - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists about this.
According to him, “Nothing will collapse in this country, neither media freedom, nor freedom of entrepreneurship, nor the fundamental rights of any person will be at risk.”
“As the Chairman of the Government, I can call on all commercial entities without exception to cooperate with both TV companies. No Georgian company will face any risk. I promise everyone that nothing will collapse in this country, neither media freedom, nor freedom of entrepreneurship. No person’s fundamental rights will be at risk,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
When asked whether Cartu Bank will continue its relationship with the sanctioned TV channels, Kobakhidze said that he could not speak on behalf of commercial entities, but everyone should continue their cooperation.
"I think that everyone should continue to cooperate, although I cannot speak on behalf of commercial entities. I can only call on all commercial entities to cooperate with all TV companies in order not to contribute to the infringement of the fundamental right to freedom of the media. Everything will be very good. No commercial entity will have any problems. No TV company will have any problems. As for the desire of TV company Imedi to establish a bank, if a commercial bank is established in Georgia in accordance with the law... As far as I know, the TV company is not restricted from establishing a commercial bank, naturally the fundamental right to equality must be protected and a license must be issued.
Imedi and POSTV do not need to be saved, no one in this country needs to be saved, everything is very good," Kobakhidze said.
