What we heard yesterday in the European Parliament, both in content and in aesthetics, was a repetition of the Congress of People's Deputies of the Soviet Union! The process of Sovietization of the European Parliament is heading toward completion - so far it is at the level of 1989, at the stage of Gorbachev's "perestroika", but the trend is such that they will keep going further and further back - most likely toward Brezhnev, - Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili responded with this statement to the debates held in the European Parliament regarding Georgia.
In the same context, Papuashvili noted that today the European Union is an ordinary union that is becoming increasingly Soviet in content rather than European in content.
Papuashvili also says that with such anti-democratic, anti-human, and anti-European policies, the European Union has no future at all, and if anything remains as a result of this policy, it will be the "Soviet Union".
"Both in intonation and in tone, it reminded those who remember the Congress of People's Deputies held in Moscow after April 9, 1989, where deputies representing various union republics were insulting us Georgians, slandering us, attacking us. That's exactly what we saw yesterday!
Looking even at the surnames among them, they are members of the Soviet camp and the Soviet nomenklatura - Ms. Juknevičienė, who stands out with fascist statements directed against Georgians. She uses terms such as 'infection', 'the fault of the people'. This is ordinary fascist terminology that she applies to Georgians. Juknevičienė is the lady who was inciting the violent overthrow on October 4. There are also like-minded deputies representing Baltic countries.
We wanted a Brussels based on values, and instead we received the Congress of People's Deputies of the Soviet Union, which is moving further and further back into the history of the Soviet Union. For now, it is the period of 1989 - they are at the level of Gorbachev's 'perestroika', but the trend is such that they will keep going further and further back - most likely toward Brezhnev.
Georgians should know that today the European Parliament, in its aesthetics, content, and values, is getting closer and closer to the Congress of People's Deputies of the Soviet Union," - stated Shalva Papuashvili.
According to Papuashvili, "it is shameful when debates are dedicated to a perpetrator of violence and attempts are made to glorify the perpetrator." In this context, he spoke about Elene Khoshtaria, the leader of "Droa", who is in custody.
"Elene Khoshtaria is a person in whose office 'Molotov cocktails', flares, and other means of violence were found. She admitted that she was buying and distributing flares with which they were setting fire to the Parliament building and deliberately targeting police officers. That she stood behind all of this has been admitted by Khoshtaria herself. They dedicate a resolution to this perpetrator of violence. This shows that this assembly has lost the value line that any democratic institution should have," - noted Shalva Papuashvili.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia also stated today that European Parliament member Markéta Gregorová "is a member of the Pirate Party, which says a lot in itself".
"As one of the pirates attacks the media. This is the same as the most marginal person in Georgian politics speaking about Czech politics and attacking the media.
When we talk about the European Union - not only us, but also the USA - we emphasize that today's Brussels is leading the European Union in a completely different direction. It is increasingly losing the signs of Europeanness and remains European only in name. It is an ordinary union that is becoming more and more Soviet in content rather than European in content.
Those who have experienced the Soviet Union see this directly - we are reminded of the aesthetics, content, and attitude that existed in the Soviet Union. Through today's Brussels, a reincarnation of all this is taking place.
This is regrettable! In reality, we care about the European Union and Europe. In reality, we and several countries - Hungary, Slovakia, and others - are the defenders of the European Union from within. Today, the enemies of Europe have taken over the European Union, who are stripping it of everything that is European and turning it into an analogue of the 21st-century Soviet Union in every way - hierarchy, structure, values.
In the European Union, Europeanness remains only in name, and it is an ordinary union-like something... The USA also says that they are rushing into a civilizational abyss. The talk will no longer be about joining the European Union, but about whether the European Union will remain European at all, or whether it will become the Soviet Union. We are the defenders of the European Union because we are co-creators of Europe and we do not want European civilization to collapse before our eyes," - stated Shalva Papuashvili.
