The report is the most severe for "Georgian Dream" and it shows on their faces too—this was stated by Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the "Coalition for Change," regarding the conclusion made under the OSCE's "Moscow Mechanism."
According to him, "there is not just a chance, but a real precondition for taking the case to the Hague court."
"This report is the most severe for 'Georgian Dream' and it shows on their faces too; let them wait for the development of events—events will probably have a very heavy development, including at the meeting of EU foreign ministers; you know that at the request of France and Germany, the issue of Georgia was also added. The irresponsibility and arrogance with which 'Georgian Dream' tries to hide its grave situation will create additional problems for them. It would be better if they act in order to at least minimally save face, and this does not only mean punishing episodic perpetrators, but full responsibility—first of all for the hijacking of power in the country—and making room for a legitimate government. The legitimate government is determined by the Georgian people through democratic elections.
There is not just a chance, but a real precondition for taking the case to the Hague court. I say once again: if 'Georgian Dream' has not completely lost its vision for its own future and is only interested in surviving today, then it must take some rational steps," Nika Gvaramia stated.
In addition, Gvaramia commented on the European Parliament resolution and said that they do not intend to "trade in political prisoners."
"The resolution is unfortunate for us, because in the last week two such documents have been written about Georgia that we would not have dreamed of even in our worst nightmares under any government, and we have no EU perspective as long as 'Georgian Dream' or Bidzina Ivanishvili and his regime remain in this country. Likewise, there is no perspective for security or well-being without the European Union. 'Georgian Dream,' this illegitimate government of the country, brings poverty and vulnerability. This is the main problem.
As for the issue of political prisoners: Elene Khoshtaria is a political prisoner—she was detained for the sake of a marker and paper; Mikheil Saakashvili is also, who has been sitting in prison for 5 years—a president with 9 years of experience who, no matter how much anyone argues or who argues, no government has had more significant achievements than him. But there are others in prison too: Nika Melia, who is in prison on an unheard-of charge—he is in prison with absolutely no charge at all. Also, more than 100 people are in prison who are not politicians.
The issue of political prisoners requires no review or trading. It is also not correct to divide them into separate groups. I will tell the government—the illegitimate one—we do not intend to trade in political prisoners and sit at the table in order to obtain for them a right that they already have anyway," Nika Gvaramia stated.
