Zurab Japaridze - The session was closed so that people wouldn't hear what madness they were talking about - the prosecutor is a person who tells me: I must send you to prison for sanctioning me

This is the third session we have been asking the prosecutor's office to specifically tell us which page of the 45 volumes of material concerns me, Zura-Girchi Japaridze. There is no evidence - the prosecutor [Ani] Khubejashvili is herself sanctioned. That is, she accuses me, Giorgi Vashadze and Elene Khoshtaria, that we worked with Western countries to sanction some people and thereby weaken the Georgian state. The prosecutor is a person who tells me: I must send you to prison for sanctioning me, - Zura-Girchi Japaridze, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change accused in the sabotage case, told journalists.

Japaridze spoke about the decision of Judge Tamar Makharoblidze, who closed the so-called sabotage trial.

According to Zura-Girchi Japaridze, the judge is not actually opening the trial because “they don’t want the public to hear about the ‘madhouse’ that is going on inside.”

"Even today, whatever the prosecutors said, I don't know, it doesn't require a legal education, if any person with even a little bit of thinking hears it, they will understand what a complete madness it is. You've heard the nonsense, they accuse you of something, some kind of digging a tunnel from Bombay to London, nonsense, this is what the prosecutor really said today. The session was closed so that people wouldn't hear what madness they are talking about”, he said.

According to him, the so-called sabotage case has two goals on the part of the Georgian Dream, one is to send a signal to the West that there is no sign of democracy in Georgia. According to Zura Japaridze, the country cannot return to the path of European integration as long as the political leaders of the opposition parties are in prison, and those who are outside are all going to court.

“The second goal is to protract the so-called sabotage case and when Ivanishvili and the Russians decide, they will then make [a decision]. In my opinion, they have not decided now whether to imprison us or not,” said Zura Girchi Japaridze.

For information, the Prosecutor General’s Office has charged Mikheil Saakashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Nika Gvaramia, Nika Melia, Zurab Girchi Japaridze, Elene Khoshtaria, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze in the so-called sabotage case.
