Georgia’s third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, felt unwell in a penitentiary facility due to a drop in blood pressure, the Special Penitentiary Service told InterpressNews.
According to the Penitentiary Service, once his condition was assessed, Saakashvili received appropriate medical assistance, after which his blood pressure stabilized and his condition improved.
The service also stated that Saakashvili complained of leg pain following a fall; however, no injuries were confirmed through external examination or radiological tests.
For context, information about Saakashvili’s condition was initially reported on social media by journalist Nanuka Zhorzholiani. According to her post, Saakashvili lost consciousness in his cell and sustained head and limb injuries as a result of the fall.
