Tengiz Sharmanashvili - The Iranian Ambassador did not mention Georgia - if he had made this statement in the Georgian context, of course, we would have responded

The Iranian ambassador did not mention Georgia - the Iranian ambassador was speaking about his country's position that those who intervened against it will pay a political price, - said Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of parliament from the Georgian Dream, responding to a statement made on social media by the Iranian ambassador to Georgia, Seyed Ali Mojani.

According to him, if the Iranian ambassador had made this statement in a Georgian context, the government would have reacted.

“The Iranian ambassador did not mention Georgia. The Iranian ambassador spoke about his country’s position that those who intervene against it will pay a political price. Even if he had not stated this, we know it. Every day we watch Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates launch missiles. If he had made this statement in the Georgian context, of course, our reaction would have been. He simply expressed his country’s position and attitude that those countries that do this are already paying a political price,” said Tengiz Sharmanashvili.

When asked whether this statement could be related to the phone call between Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Sharmanashvili replied, “No, these are children’s plays on diplomacy.”

"Where Georgia was not directly mentioned, of course, you cannot demand an answer from him. He will tell you that I expressed my country's political position and introduced it to the Georgian society and you cannot say anything. If someone, whoever they are, takes a direct step against Georgia, indicating either a threat or some attempt to exert pressure, the reaction will be immediate," Sharmanashvili noted.

For information, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia, Seyed Ali Mojan, published a statement on social media, noting that "when some countries, unwillingly or hastily, cede their space and territory to external adventurers, sooner or later they suffer the price within the country - those who supported Trump are forced to pay the price."
