“In order to be able to send Ivanishvili’s government home, ‘Lelo’ is ready not to leave any battlefield untouched and will participate in all elections,” said the Secretary General of “Lelo – Strong Georgia,” Irakli Kupradze, at a briefing, responding to the statement of Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, who said she believes in elections and wants “Georgian Dream” to leave power through elections.
According to him, in recent years, skepticism, boycott, and electoral nihilism from part of the opposition have damaged the very idea of elections, which will have serious consequences in the future.
“‘Lelo – Strong Georgia’ has always been consistent and state-oriented in its strategic decisions. We have always said that elections are the only correct and peaceful way to change the government.
In order for us to be able to send Ivanishvili’s government home, ‘Lelo’ is ready not to leave any battlefield untouched and will participate in all elections.
In recent years, skepticism, boycott, and electoral nihilism from part of the opposition have damaged the idea of elections in general, which will have serious consequences in the future. It is good that this inconsistency shown by part of the opposition is now changing, and we welcome this. The opposition must return to a correct, strategic struggle in order to reflect citizens’ interests in politics and to remove Ivanishvili from power quickly. In this struggle, ‘Lelo’ will be the leading force that will make a major contribution to removing Ivanishvili from power,” Kupradze said.
For reference, Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, stated that she believes in elections and wants “Georgian Dream” to leave power through elections. According to her, changing the government through elections will put Georgia back “on its rails.”
“I believe in elections! This is a stable and peaceful path for the country,” Zurabishvili said in a video address posted on social media.
