“The increasingly discredited ‘Nationals’ are trying to somehow spoil May 26 for the public - it would be better to once again look at how the reincarnated criminal regime alliance of Saakashvili-Bokeria-Gvaramia is attempting to damage our country again,” said Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, commenting on a statement by Giorgi Vashadze, leader of “Strategy Aghmashenebeli,” regarding May 26.
According to him, the Georgian people will respond very calmly and appropriately to the opposition’s plans, although “of course, there will be a few ‘akatsuki.’”
“We see the alliance of Saakashvili-Bokeria-Gvaramia and their second-tier echelon in the form of Vashadze and others. From the ‘United National Movement,’ we are used to constant announcements of unrest, revolution, and bloodshed. On October 4 as well, they announced plans to overthrow the government. Unfortunately, at that time, the European Union supported and stood by those who had announced turning Georgia into something like Nepal, and emboldened by support from Brussels, they attempted to storm the presidential palace. Once again, they were defeated by Georgian society.
Now we see that the even more discredited ‘Nationals’ are trying to somehow poison May 26 for the public. Perhaps it is better to once again reflect and observe how the ‘National Movement,’ the reincarnated criminal regime alliance of Saakashvili-Bokeria-Gvaramia, is trying to damage our country again. I think the Georgian people will respond very calmly and appropriately. Of course, there will be a few ‘akatsuki.’ When they threaten that they must overthrow and turn everything upside down, this is the kind of response they usually get [referring to the use of this term],” Papuashvili said.
For context, Giorgi Vashadze, leader of “Strategy Aghmashenebeli,” stated on the PalitraNews program “Polit-city” that the “opposition alliance” will meet with the population door-to-door from May 10 to May 26.
According to him, on May 26, Georgia’s Independence Day, the first large gathering of the “opposition alliance” will take place.
“From May 10 to May 26, we will conduct a universal door-to-door campaign, initially in Tbilisi - representatives of the ‘opposition alliance’ will visit every district,” Vashadze said.
