The position of State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies will be added to the structure of the Georgian government, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced the briefing held at the government administration.
According to the head of government, the position will be held by Mamuka Mdinaradze, who will also be assigned the duties of Vice Prime Minister of Georgia.
"We would like to inform you that the position of State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies will be added to the structure of the Government of Georgia. This position will be held by Mr. Mamuka Mdinaradze, who will also be entrusted with the duties of Vice Prime Minister of Georgia. After being appointed as the Head of the State Security Service, Mr. Mamuka Mdinaradze had to withdraw from political activities; from his new position, he will return to political activities, which will strengthen our political team. The introduction of the position of State Minister requires a legislative amendment. The Government of Georgia will submit the relevant draft law to the Parliament of Georgia tomorrow. We would like to ask the Parliament of Georgia to adopt the draft law in the next sessional week, in an expedited manner. I would like to thank Mr. Mamuka Mdinaradze for his very successful work as the Head of the State Security Service. He had very important achievements, systemic reforms were implemented in the service, a number of very important special operations were carried out, the service's activities during these months were very successful in terms of fighting crime. The service's activities were especially successful in the fight against corruption, and for all this, I would like to express my special gratitude to Mr. Mamuka," the Prime Minister said.
