Irakli Kobakhidze introduces newly-appointed Minister of Internal Affairs to staff

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia introduced the newly-appointed Minister of Internal Affairs, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, to the Ministry staff, the Government Administration reports.

The Head of Government of Georgia thanked former Minister of Internal Affairs Geka Geladze for his service and wished him every success in his future work.

"I would like to express my deep gratitude to Geka Geladze for the tremendous work carried out over the past incomplete year, which brought about transformative changes in the fight against crime. These 11 months were particularly successful for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Many problems had accumulated in various areas and we were able to fundamentally change the situation. There were challenges related to crime, drug-related offenses and organized crime. In all directions, we have achieved tangible and fundamental results and I would like to extend special thanks to him and his team. I am confident that Geka will be just as successful in the State Security Service as he was during his tenure as Minister of Internal Affairs," stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Irakli Kobakhidze also highlighted Sulkhan Tamazashvili's experience, noting that the Ministry of Internal Affairs will have a highly dignified leader in him.

"In the position of Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, he was able to implement fundamental changes, streamline the governance system and launch many new projects. This shows that, beyond being a very successful representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, Sulkhan Tamazashvili is a versatile individual. This is reflected in the achievements he demonstrated during his relatively short, but highly substantive tenure in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia will have a very dignified leader in him. I am confident that the path laid in recent months will continue with great success and Sulkhan Tamazashvili's future work will ensure that the MOI achieves even greater success," added Irakli Kobakhidze.

The Prime Minister of Georgia also emphasized the role of law-enforcement agencies in ensuring the strength and resilience of the state and expressed profound gratitude to representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MOI) for their service to the country.
