"I understand that conditions in prison are harsher than at home or in a hospital ward. There are solitary cells, and so on, but we all endure it. Children endure it in other prisons, and women endure it in the women's prison. But we don't hear an endless 'I, I, I, I, I' from anyone. Therefore, others must also endure it and not make an allegory of slander," Nika Melia, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, writes in a letter sent from prison.
He also responds to the accusation that "in 2024, Bidzina Ivanishvili personally wrote a higher percentage for N4 than for the National Movement. Melia calls the above statement slander.
“I want to say a lot in this letter, but it seems that the letter will be long anyway, and I do not want the recent attacks caused by a specific person’s jealousy to go unanswered.
For two weeks now, I have been hearing direct and veiled slander, and very dirty ones, personal attacks.
I heard the last such immoral accusation on Friday, at 9:00 PM, against the Coalition for Changes, which I personally take upon myself and respond to this already a relentless dirty campaign.
A political leader from a specific party, the National Movement, dared to say that in 2024, Bidzina Ivanishvili personally wrote a higher percentage for N4 than for the National Movement.
This politician is from Zugdidi, I lived in this city dear to me, in the 2024 campaign, for 1 month. In the city of Zugdidi, we got 27%, and his party got 10%.
I expected 34/35% in the city of Zugdidi, and 27/28% in the Zugdidi municipality. The latest survey also showed me this. As a result, we got only 27% in the city, 20% in the municipality. The slanderer knows all this, but still said that Bidzina wrote it!
Bidzina took 7/8% from the coalition in Zugdidi, almost as much as his party got in total.
I will also say what happened at the polling stations abroad, I have to say this for the slanderers. N4 got 33%, the Dream got 10%.
In Tbilisi, the opposition had the greatest support overall, and the regime could not escape the rigging. N4 took first place from the opposition, and the slanderers took fifth. I won't even mention the American exit polls.
I won't give any more examples. I'm amazed how they manage to tell so many lies, poison, and slander!”, Melia says in the letter.
In addition, according to him, for years, the necessity of working with people by politicians, NGOs and other active/public figures has been overshadowed by the illusion of decisive assistance from abroad.
“It is beyond my comprehension how an ambitious politician, a healthy ambitious NGO or a public figure from civil society, who rightly think about taking responsibility for governing the country in the future, manages to get to Brussels ten times a year and not even once in Zugdidi?!
This approach also needs to be completely changed. That is correct - ten times in Zugdidi, enough - once in Brussels!
An alienated politician is the greatest threat to the country and this is confirmed every day by the Georgian Dream.
A politician alienated from the people is left with only verbal phrases and careerism, which has never brought anyone any good.
That is why you have not come up with any of your own ideas. Behind the conversation, there are only slogans chanted at trainings, not thoughtful results filled with personal feelings. This is the current government reality, which requires a completely opposite approach.," Melia said.
