“Give the medicine to children” - with this demand, a protest rally is underway in front of the government administration in support of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
According to the parents, the protests will continue until the children receive the medicine.
“Our protest began two years ago. Before we took to the streets, we had a conversation with the Ministry of Health. We tried to have our demand met in a constructive way. We did not take to the streets directly, as some in the public think.
We did not find information about the medicine through ChatGPT. We go to conferences, we are members of European organizations. We have studied each drug and how the studies were conducted," says Tako Gogaladze, the mother of one of the children with Duchenne syndrome.
During the protest, the mother of one of the children with Duchenne syndrome fainted and required emergency medical help. According to the protest participants, the woman came from the region and has not slept at home for several days.
"The Minister of Health decided to kill the parents along with the children," the parents say.
The parents are demanding a meeting with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and for this very purpose, the parents have been staying up all night in front of the government administration for more than a week.
Leaders of opposition parties also joined today's protest.
